Thanks much for the follow-up. Yes, using the exclude flag for the work-around is a much better approach.
And yes, I'm engaging the Olympus ScanR developers and will direct them to this forum discussion and other resources you identified. It is indeed very gratifying when a vendor appears to be moving in the right direction in the area of file formats.
