Open Microscopy Environment

Dear Bioformats,

We are encountering a troubling bug opening 4 channel fluorescent VSI images.

Attached is a file, which is roughly 1GB which takes about 2 minutes in Bioformats to display the "Choose Series" dialog in Fiji.

While we can still kind of work with these images, any insight on the reason for the slowdown would be most gratuitously welcome!

Hi Oli,

Thank you for the report and for the submitting the sample file. From profiling the read times it appears that the vast majority of the time is being spent attempting to read an unkown tag. This is similar to a previous report we had received a while back.

We had a Trello card for the previous report of this issue (https://trello.com/c/D4ZmjyBj/29-vsi-slow-tag-reading). I have updated the card with details from this thread and the submitted QA and we will reevaluate the priority of the issue and further investigate.
