Great, thank you very much for letting us know how things look at your end, and for a file that might make a fix easier to devise! Sample data is always most welcome and I've noted it on the Trello card accordingly.

Hi Mark,

Thanks. I thought it was especially useful to see that this very similar behaviour also happened with a fairly simple and regular TIFF file. That appears to indicate that the issue is not really related to the "reader" side of the process but more likely the rendering or pyramid-ing part of the import process. Let me know if more examples would help.
