Config to enable sharing?

Postby RickB » Wed Aug 26, 2015 6:39 pm

We have a user who would like to share images/data with other users on the same Omero server... Seems very straightforward, as described here: http://help.openmicroscopy.org/sharing-data.html#share

However we seem to be missing the option to Create a share, and no users have the globe icon available when browsing data.

Wondering what I missed when I built the system or what config may be needed to enable this functionality? Our instance is running Omero 5.1.2 ice34 on CentOS 6.6... Happy to provide more info.
Thanks,
Rick

Hi Rick,

The share workflow was improved a bit in the 5.1.3 release and that's what you're seeing in the user-manual (apologies - this isn't mentioned in the guide).

You can access the same functionality by using a "basket" icon, which you should see in place of the "globe" icon. It looks a bit like the adjacent "trash" icon.
Clicking this will put your images into a "basket" which you can then access via a button and 'quick-look' panel on the page header (which should indicate that items have been added).
When you go to the basket page itself, you can select images in the table and you should see a "globe" icon here to create a "share" in the same way as described in the guide.

Hope that helps,

Will.

Thanks, that's what we were missing - now however the user is having trouble removing a shared basket - any change to that procedure?

Hi Rick,

You can't actually Delete a share, but you can disable it or remove members from the share so they won't be able to access those images.
You can do this by clicking the green 'Edit' icon in the right Share panel. This workflow has not changed since 5.1.2 so the user-manual should be more accurate in showing this.

Hope that helps,

Will.
