Thumbnail image location

Hi All,

Our repository resides on a hierarchical storage system, and we plan to use the archiving process of this system that can move files to slower media automatically depending on when they have been accessed the last time. Can we confirm that the thumbnail images are stored separately (database or filesystem), so we could make sure they remain stored on fast media? So the only delay is in opening/viewing an archived image and not in browsing the thumbnail images.

Many thanks,

IMCF Basel

Hi,

If you look in the binary repository (E.g. /OMERO/) you'll see a Thumbnails/ directory that holds all the thumbnails. Also Pixels, Files (E.g. file attachments, original image files etc), FullText (search index), etc.

Hope that helps,
Cheers,
Will.
