Interfacing OMERO with Arvados

Postby dotnetmobile » Fri Sep 01, 2017 12:30 pm

Dear Colleagues,

I would like to know if it is possible to connect the CLI for importing images to the Keep from Arvados (https://dev.arvados.org/projects/arvados/wiki/Keep)?

Arvados is one very important pillar in our organisation.

Any feedback is welcome.

Best regards

There's no integration at the moment. Are you looking to have the files downloaded to the server or access them remotely?

Hi Josh,

The idea is the following; we will save our imaging files on Arvados (cloud based solution; files split in encrypted blocks and replicated on the infrastructure).
We would like then to use the CLI for referencing (not importing) the files in OMERO.
Proceeding this way will help us considerably.

If I understand correctly, it sounds like this is independent of the CLI and what you are looking for is having OMERO present a "view" of remote files. There a number of ways that we'd like to enable this over time, but if someone has the resources and inclination to try it in the interim, I'd suggest an "ArvadosReader" and for each such set of files stored in the cloud provide a single file that contains the necessary connection information.
