let's perhaps start a new thread on this, cross-linked here. If you have something working, I'm sure others would be interested to see it, but it might get lost on this older thread.
FYI there was discussion around capturing this type of metadata at this year's users meeting. Susanne Kunis from Osnabrück developed an extension to insight to do just this. See https://trello.com/c/Q8V4Za5D/495-omeroimporter-extension-university-of-osnabrueck if you are interested.
