Group/username heirarchy

Hi,

Following on from my previous post and some confusion with a student I see that the data are organised in a Group -> User -> Project system.

I had created what I though was:
Group -> Project_name

But is actually:

Group -> Chris -> Project_name

When I asked the student to create her own folder I expected to see this:
Group -> New_Project_Name

And I was thoroughly confused when I couldn't see it. That's because in omero.web you need to click the group name and select group members name from the nested drop-down list. omero.insight is a bit clearer once Display Groups -> All Groups -> All Members is ticked.

I bet this won't be possible, but I'll ask anyway :) Is there any way to get rid of the 'User' level in the hierarchy? Within our centre we'd prefer to have all the project folders in one place - e.g. under the Group level - and the user access as an attribute rather than enforced in the structure. Is that impossible?

Thanks,

Chris

The "All members" setting under the group list under OMERO.web does part of what you're asking for. cF:

https://omero.lifesci.dundee.ac.uk/webclient/
and
https://omero.lifesci.dundee.ac.uk/webc ... imenter=-1

This is what we've done on the IDR. Our main entry point (on clicking on "View the data") is:

https://idr.openmicroscopy.org/webclien ... imenter=-1

so that all the data is visible. This won't get rid of the user hierarchy, but should prevent the surprise that you had. If you'd like, we can help to send users from login to this representation.

All the best,
~Josh
