Your best bet is probably Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. Full instructions on how to install OMERO on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS are available here:

Is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS still considered the easiest and pain-free Linux (i.e. all the packages included are compatible with OMERO)? I need to get something up really quick to convince some folks that OMERO is the way to go for a new project.

Thanks,

Thanks. Just see my note on: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=665
for instructions how to get around the missing sun-java6-jdk package.
