OME-tiff

Postby bimmer » Fri Jun 28, 2013 6:02 am

Hi,
Does anyone could give me an answer?
Is it possible for OME-tiff to have more than 3 channels unlike general tiff?

Thanks,
bimmer

Hello Bimmer,

Your statement that a general TIFF is limited to 3 channels is incorrect. The number of image channels is only limited by the maximum file size. (A common number in general TIFF is 4 - Red, Green, Blue, Alpha.)

So yes, an OME-TIFF can contain more than 3 channels. It uses the same mechanism as general TIFF.

Hope this helps,

Andrew
