short-cut to import images

Postby MLB » Tue May 22, 2012 10:07 am

Hi,

Actually we save images into our server (with our image acquisition software). And then, we import them into OMERO.
Is it possible to do it on one step ? Is it a way to short-cut this step ?
We would like to save into the right folder (decided by OMERO) at a first step. Any ideas ?

Thanks,

Marie-Laure

Hi,

There is an automatic import system, OMERO DropBox, that will import any images copied into the monitored directories on the server. This can be configured per user. At present the DropBox directories need to be located on the same machine as the server. The images are imported as orphans so they would then need to be copied into Datasets after import. There are more details here

Hi,

Once the files are imported using DropBox you can use Insight or the WebClient to copy single or multiple orphaned images into Datasets. There are some movies explaining how to organise and manage your data at:

Hi Colin,

Thank you for your explanation.

In my Insight (4.3.3) I don't see the directory Orphaned image as into the WebClient.
The version of the server is 4.3.0. Perhaps it's associate to that old version.

Into webclient, I'm able to move images to dataset.

Hi,

In Insight you can view orphaned images using the Images tab in the left-hand panel. This allows you to view all images organised by their date of import. The orphaned ones can then be copied from here and pasted into Datasets in the Projects tab. If you are not sure if an image is already in a Dataset then select the image and in the right-hand panel under the General tab there's a "Contained in Datasets" section towards the bottom that will show whether an image is an orphan or what Datasets it is including within.

Cheers,

Hi,

Images imported through DropBox will appear in the default group for the user. In the current version it is not possible to move images between groups. In the upcoming 4.4 release you will be able to use the clients to move images between groups.

Thanks Colin for your answer=

It seems that if the name of the image is with the full path, ImageJ, couldn't open it directly with o. insight Openwith.
