Hi all,

I have a question for position of the 'Ice*.dylib' file.
Setup environment is centOS 5.5 and detail diagnostics are as follows.

I am trying to export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH because I couldn't login omero.web for some reasons.
I don't know where 'Ice*.dylib' file exist in the system. Could you help me out to find this file location ?
It would be useful if you have any advice...

Hi all,
I am new to OME and wanted to test the software.
However I too can't get past the login screen using the developmental webserver etc.
If I try to log in with the OMERO root user I get

"Error: Connection not available, please check your user name and password."

I followed the installation instructions and put everything on a clean fresh Linux installation
(Ubuntu 10.10) using the apt system, so for all I can see, java, ice, postgres, and python are
installed.

I chose not to install the optional python modules for starters.
I used everything in the default settings, omero as user and password etc.

The server starts without trouble same for the webserver.
I can connect to the postgresql server through pgAdmin3 just fine and see all omero DBs and tables

Below is the diagnostics output.

Maybe someone can point me in the right direction

Hi Robert,

the diagnostics output looks quite healthy for your server. Have you seen the troubleshooting page on the different user accounts? http://www.openmicroscopy.org/site/support/omero4/troubleshooting#section-3 If you don't think that's the problem, could you attach your var/log/Blitz-0.log file to the forums?

thanks for the quick reply,
Yes I am aware of the troubleshooting page, but I thought,
that everything seems OK so far, and I know the passwords.

Anyway, I attached the Blitzlog file. When scanning over
it myself, I noticed some Java errors but I am not sure what
these mean.

Hi Robert,

I can't quite follow the steps you took from your log. There is at least one forced shutdown:
TERM: Shutdown requested


Could you describe what commands you used, something like:

bin/omero admin start
bin/omero admin diagnostics
bin/omero admin stop
bin/omero admin start
... etc ...


The diagnostics output you sent has the server as active:
Server: Blitz-0 active (pid = 16885, enabled)

but the log definitely shows it as stopped:
2011-03-15 17:42:22,376 INFO [ ome.services.util.ServerVersionCheck] (RM handler) Stopping OMERO...


You might want to stop OMERO (bin/omero admin stop), delete the var/log (rm -rf var/log), and then restart, sending both the diagnostics and the Blitz-0.log if you still can't log in.

Hi Josh,

thanks again for all the quick help,
I use the normal commands like bin/omero admin xxx

I think I found a part of the problem when I was preparing the log files
I looked into the OMEROweb.log and saw.

PermissionDeniedException: exception ::Glacier2::PermissionDeniedException
{
    reason = Password check failed
}


I tried to reset the password using /omero db password
but even with the new password it doesn't work
I also read that somebody had success with doing something to a /var/tmp/django_cach file
but this folder doesn't exist for me hidden or not.

Anyway here are the log files again

Were you previously able to login as root? In the logs there are 4 failed login attempts for the user "OMERO". Does this sound correct?

OMG!!
I am feeling stupid right now :oops:

I thought OMERO is the username of the root user :(
Because it was written all in uppercase I had the impression
during install that this is supposed to be the username of root

It works now when I actually use "root" and the password I set.
