Roadmap
The planned direction of future development.
There are several projects underway in our laboratories that have recently matured.
LOCI is continuing to develop Bio-Formats; see the roadmap for details.
The Swedlow Lab has focussed its efforts on development of OMERO, a Java Enterprise-based image data and metadata platform that includes for server and client applications. The roadmap for the project is available. We are currently releasing OMERO-Beta4.1, which provides enhanced import and export while building on our work in OMERO-Beta4.0 a major step in functionality, usability, and performance. OMERO-Beta4 provided a fully functional system for integrating large, diverse sets of image data, and provides both Java- and web-based client applications for uploading, viewing, and using data. Examples of the functionality available in OMERO-Beta4 are on the client pages.
We are also working on a number of enhancements to the OMERO platform to improve its performance and standardize programming interfaces. For mid-2010, as we head towards our 2010 OME User's Meeting in Paris, we are focussing our efforts on cleaning up a number of outstanding issues, fully releasing HCS functionality, and laying foundation for fully addressing analysis in OMERO. The results of this effort will be released as OMERO-Beta4.2.
The Goldberg Lab has developed a new image classification system known as WND-CHARM that uses a large suite of calculated features to enable automatic image classification.
We are in the process of digesting all the useful feedback we received at our Paris meeting and will soon be updating this page. In the mean time you may like to look at the notes taken at the meeting.
