Thank you for providing the sample files Norbert. I have been able to use the new files to reproduce the behaviour described and I have created a card on the Bio-Formats inbox on Trello to track this issue - https://trello.com/c/TCeO5fpv/218-cr2-bit-depth

I have updated the Trello card today with some further details on the differences in the metadata which Bio-Formats is generating for each of the files. https://trello.com/c/TCeO5fpv/218-cr2-bit-depth

Hi Norbert,

Unfortunately there is not yet a solution in place, I will try and carry out some further debugging but with our annual users meeting next week it will likely be after it is completed before I will have any update.

Hi David,

as this is quite a while running, is there any chance that this issue will be solved within a few months? Can anybody think of a work around (except exporting the files with the canon tool)? We would like to use it.

all best

Hi Norbert,

Im afraid it is unlikely that we will have a fix in place in the near future until we understand ore about the specification of this format.

As a side note we will be migrating our forums to image.sc using the bio-formats tag: https://forum.image.sc/tags/bio-formats
You can also feel free to comment on the Trello card for this particular issue: https://trello.com/c/TCeO5fpv/218-cr2-bit-depth
