Moving images to a different group

Postby a.herbert » Thu Jan 12, 2012 10:12 am

Hello Everyone,

I would like to move images to a new group. Is this possible using some SQL within the database? Obvious caveats include the image owner being in both groups and updating the references for archive images and file attachments.

At present we do not have user comments associated with images so if these were lost it would not be a problem. My current option is to export the image and re-import to another group. However if it can be done in the database I would be very grateful for any help.

Thanking you in advance.

This is quite a tricky operation. See discussion http://www.openmicroscopy.org/community ... ?f=6&t=870

Hi Will,

That was an interesting post. If the chgrp functionality is being tested for production release then I think I will just wait until the next server version is out. We can use our current legacy groups for old data and start using new groups for new data. When the chgrp functionality is present I'll look into scripting the move of the old images to the new groups.

Regards,

Alex
