If it worked locally it should work remotely there is no difference between the two types of logins as far as OMERO is concerned.

The username and password is not different because you're trying to connect remotely. You have some other problem, either with your firewall configuration or otherwise.

I can't really help you any more than I have without you trying to debug some of this yourself. The possibilities are nearly endless. At a minimum you must validate:

• your firewall configuration
• that OMERO is actually started
• that you can login via localhost on the server itself
• that the username and password you are using is correct
• the IP address or hostname you are using is correct
• the port your are using is correct
