Install Failure (windows)

Postby pwnage » Tue Mar 02, 2010 5:58 pm

I have run through all the instructions to get this installed but as soon as I get to running bin\omero db script it errors out (attached is the screen shot of the error). I cruised through the forum and found one thing that might fix it. I tried it and it didn't work.

Path
C:\Python26\Scripts;C:\Python26\;C:WINDOWS\system32;C:WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\WINDOWS\system32\WindowsPoerShell\v1.0;%APPDATA%\Python\Scripts;C:\Ice-3.3.1\bin

PYTHONPATH
C:\omero_dist\lib\python;C:\Ice-3.3.1\python

Anyone know how to fix this?

If you've followed the Windows install page in full:

http://www.openmicroscopy.org/site/supp ... ll-windows

You must use the Python 2.5 version of ActivePython.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know how I didn't download the right version. I'm trying it now, and I'll repost when I know more.

Okay the install went fine and the database seems to be working. Though I can't connect to the server to play around with the DB. Any ideas?

You can't connect to OMERO or you can't connect to PostgreSQL?

I have a XP Pro SP3 box with the omero software up and running and PostgreSQL is running (this XP Pro box is a VM and is the machine that I'm trying to run the DB off of.) I try to access the web interface via "host IP":8000/webadmin I can't get the page on any computer. If I use 127.0.0.1:8000/webadmin on the host machine it gives me the web log on screen but using the username and password that I used to set up the omero web server doesn't work. The error i get is "Connection not available, please check your user name and passoword." I tried to connect to the database via the omero client software and I get an error that says bad username/password though I'm typing in the correct username and password.

Are you sure you're using the correct username and password? By default the only username an OMERO installation has is root. You can find more information about all the usernames and passwords OMERO uses here:

Tried it no go. And yes I'm sure I'm using the right username and password. I saw that page and tried the fixes that it had but nothing.

Would you say it's better to use omero on say Ubuntu or CentOS? I just seems like this stuff runs better on linux.

There's certainly nothing wrong with deploying on Windows. I assume the server is running and that there are no obvious errors in Blitz-0.log?

There are some errors. I have attached the logfile. At the bottom there is a "Cannot acquire connection" error.
