CLOSED: cannot loggin using web admin

Postby Ed_Harry » Fri Feb 25, 2011 11:15 am

Hello, I have installed omero server on mac osx 10.6.6 using the instructions here http://cvs.openmicroscopy.org.uk/snapsh ... ver214.pdf

I can start the server and loggin using omero.insite as root fine, but when I try start the development web server and goto localhost:4080 I can get to the loggin screen but all attempts to login just result in a 'Error: Server is not responding, please contact administrator.' message. I've completely removed the server and the postgreSQL database and reinstalled both and the same thing happens, I just can't figure out the problem.

attached are my log files in a zip archive

Hi Ed,

The http://cvs.openmicroscopy.org.uk/snapshots/omero/osx/Omero-MacInstalltionGuide-ver214.pdf provides the installation process for older version of OMERO platform. Based on your log I see you are using Beta4.2.2-r8718-Beta4.2-b56.

In order to set up OMERO.web in production mode you need to follow the documentation on http://www.openmicroscopy.org.uk/site/s ... nstall_web.
Alternatively if you want to set up OMERO.web on test server follow http://www.openmicroscopy.org.uk/site/s ... #section-6

Thanks

Yes, sorry I should have mentioned that I followed the mac install guide for setting up the omero server but then I followed the steps on http://www.openmicroscopy.org.uk/site/s ... #section-6 for setting up the test web server.

I'm pretty sure the omero server is running fine since I can log in it using omero insite and upload movies using the importer, and I can start the development web server and get to the login screen at localhost:4080, but I alway get the 'Error: Server is not responding, please contact administrator.' message.

Ok, then could you please stop omero and web servers. Delete omero/var/log. Set debug mode on by:

Code: Select all
bin/omero config set omero.web.debug True

Then start both again and try to log in to OMERO.web. Please send me the log files again.

Hi Ed

Based on the error you get in the OMEROweb-DEBUG.log
Code: Select all
PluginInitializationException: exception ::Ice::PluginInitializationException
{
    reason = unable to load entry point `IceSSL:createIceSSL': dlopen(libIceSSL.33.dylib, 10): image not found
}

and diagnostics it looks like your DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH is not set.

I am not sure how you manage to start the server and connect by java client without it. Maybe in the other process you had DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH set? You needs it globally, and then you should restart everything.

I would also suggest to set ICE_HOME.

Code: Select all
Environment:ICE_HOME=/Library/Ice/3.3
Environment:LD_LIBRARY_PATH=(unset)
Environment:DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=/Library/Ice/3.3/lib
