OMERO ImageJ plugin error

Postby bernie » Fri Jun 24, 2011 1:45 pm

Hello,

I've upgraded our server from 4.2.2 to 4.3.0 and everything seems to be working well. I've also upgraded ImageJ with the recent OMERO and Bio-Formats plugins. However, the ImageJ plugin consistently gives an error. Users can authenticate and initially see the directory structure. The first folder can be expanded to show the dataset folder, but when you try and expand this folder the program crashes with the error: An error occurred while loading the data. The directory structure freezes with the dataset folder expanded and showing a file with the label: Loading... Users tell me that previously this plugin worked.

I have tried updating ImageJ and increasing the amount of memory available to ImageJ but no luck. I can't see anything helpful in the Blitz log,

I have precisely that same problem. I am running ImageJ 1.45b on a Mac and just downloaded the OMERO plugin from the server. I put the whole OMERO folder in the plugins folder and restarted IJ. I thought it odd that there was a ij.jar file in the package since there is already one in the IJ folder. Is that an issue?

The ij.jar should not have been there, this is now fixed, but that's not the reason of the problem.
I can open the plugin and view the image using ImageJ 1.42q. The images are now opened using ome-tiff so the plug-in assume you already have the "loci_tools.jar" installed.

Which version of the server are you running? 4.3.0?
If not then you will have an error when expanding a dataset.

I have also tried with ImageJ 1.43u and 1.44o, and it works

We seem to have an issue with our build system.
If I build locally, I have no problem. The one available for download does not work.
Looking into it.

Hi Jmarie,

I really don't want to have to tell you this but I'm still experiencing exactly the same problem with OMERO.imagej-4.3.0 v2,

If you have ome-tools.jar in your plugins directory you need to remove it.

I should have been more explicit in my previous post.
A new version of the software (including the fixed ImageJ plugin) will be available at the end of next week.
