Folders for figure

Postby darraghennis » Mon Oct 30, 2017 2:53 pm

We are using figure a lot to create data for our screen database. As the number of figures grows it would be good to have some sort of folder system to put them in. Is this potentially possible?

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback. I've created a card for this feature request at https://trello.com/c/LwAVYUjm/165-save- ... in-folders

Regards,

Will.

HI,

I just wanted to check whether you are using the existing file filtering in the Figure File->Open dialog since that might provide a workaround in the meantime?
Filtering by name should allow you to give your files longer "folder-like" names and to filter by ones with a common folder name.
Does this help at all?

Will.

Hi Will,

We are doing that at the moment as a workaround and it's been fine. The issue we are finding is that we are using figure so much that with several users generating 100s of figures it's becoming unwieldy. We are also mining the figures using the file names for our display software, so we are a little restricted in what we can put into our filenames. Ideally we would like a folder system with a communal possibility of many users being able to deposit into one folder. This would mean we could specify one location for our display software to extract figures. If that's not possible then a folder system per user would also be extremely helpful.

Thanks for the info.
I think we've got enough to go on, but if we need more details we'll get back to you.
Cheers,

Will.
